Je voudrais souhaiter la bonne année à tous mes amis Chinois! Et comme c'est l'année du Chien qui commence, voici une photo du chien de mon frère, Coquin le cocker. J'ai écrit les caractères chinois avec le programme paint alors veuillez excuser le manque de talent.

I would like to wish a very Happy New Year to all my Chinese friends! And because this year will be the year of the Dog, here is a picture of my brother's dog, Coquin, the cocker spaniel. I wrote the chinese caracters using the paint program, so please, be indulgent.

Polémil Bazar.

L'été dernier, je suis allée voir un spectacle en plein air du groupe Polémil Bazar avec une de mes amies. Son fils est batteur dans le groupe et c'était la première fois que je les voyais sur scène. Quelle énergie!






















Comme j'avais ma caméra, je m'en suis donné à coeur joie. Le groupe bouge beaucoup sur scène et je crois que mes photos le rendent bien.

Polémil Bazar est un groupe de Québec qui en est déjà à son troisième album. Sur des textes engagés, leur musique entraînante et rythmée est un heureux mélange de swing, de klezmer, de dixie et de bien d'autres encore.

Ne manquez surtout pas d'aller voir leurs deux fabuleux clip vidéo. Moi, j'aime le Polémil Bazar!...






Last summer, with one of my friends, I went to an outdoor show of Polemil Bazar. Her son is the drummer of that group and it was the first time that I saw them on scene. Wow! What energy!

By chance, I had my camera with me. So I had a wonderful time taking pics of them. They are always in movement on the scene and I think that you can easily see that on the pics.




Polemil Bazar is a young group from Quebec, but they already have made three albums. On engaged texts, their very rhythmic music is a melting of swing, klezmer, dixie and many other.




Don't forget to go see their two wonderful video clip. For me, I love Polemil Bazar.

Hier soir, notre confrère bloggeur JKirlin a fait un envoi très spécial. Il a réussi l'exploi de photographier une chose très difficile: un photographe en train de photographier avec un flash! Et puis, il a défié ses "gentils visiteurs" d'essayer la même chose. J'ai pris cette photo il y a quelques semaines. Je venais de découvrir quelque chose de nouveau sur ma caméra. Alors, Jeff, pas mal n'est-ce pas?

Last evening, our blogger friend JKirlin posted a very special pic. He made an achievement: he took a pic of a photographer photographying with a flash! Then he ask to his "gentle viewers" to try to do the same. I did that pic some weeks ago. I had just discovered something new on my camera. Not bad, Jeff, isn't it?

J'ai toujours adoré ces deux vieilles diapos prises par mon père. C'était, je crois, en 1959.

I always loved those two old slides. My father tooks them in 1959, I believe.

Oui, c'est ça, c'est bon, Ahhhh, oui, un peu plus à gauche, oui, Mmmm, ça fait du bien.

Ahhhh yes, here, Ohhhhh yes, there, Ohhhh a little bit to the right, yes, Mmmmmm, goooood.

Absolument belle.

Pour cette photo, je n'ai rien changé: ni le contraste, ni les couleurs, pas même le cadrage (je l'ai seulement redimensionnée pour le web). C'est le genre de photo qu'on réussit à faire une fois sur mille, avec de la patience, beaucoup de travail et un peu de chance. J'adore cette photo et j'en suis très fière, mais je dois avouer que j'avais un modèle exceptionnel: ma fille.

No modification for that picture: I didn't touch the contrast, or the colors, not even the framing (just smaller dimensions for the web). It's the kind of picture that we do once on a thousand time, with persistence, a lot of work and a little bit of chance. I love that pic and I'm very proud of it but I have to confess that I had a very talented model: my daughter.

It's very late: just a little post before I go to bed.

L'attaque des flocons fous! The attack of the crazy snowflakes!

À l'origine, cette photo était très pâle. En allant chercher l'éclat des couleurs, ça la rend beaucoup plus joyeuse... c'est très joyeux une attaque de flocons fous!
Before, this pic was full of white. I work on the colors and get them more brilliant, so the pic is now full of joy... it's very joyfull an attack of crazy snowflakes!

Neige sage, neige folle. Little snow, crazy snow.

Avec mon vieux 35mm, un Canon A-1, j'ai souvent essayé de poser la neige qui tombe. Lorsque je recevais mes photos, déception: pas si facile de fixer les flocons sur la pellicule. Avec le numérique, c'est chouette! J'ai découvert qu'on voyait mieux la neige en faisant un zoom, allez savoir pourquoi. Alors je peux m'en donner à coeur joie car vous savez, ici au Québec, nous avons une grande variété de type de neige. En haut: gros flocons tombant lentement (ça, c'est ce que je préfère: tellement romantique!) et en bas: neige folle, folle parce que le vent tourbillonne et l'on ne sait jamais d'où viendra l'attaque des flocons.

Many years ago with my old 35mm, a Canon A-1, I tried to take pics of the falling snow... and it was the deception when I received my photos. It is not so easy to do. With the digital, it's super! To see the falling snow, I discover it was easier with the zoom, really don't know why. And it's really fun because you know, here in Quebec, we have a big variety of snow. At the top: big snowflakes falling slowly (those I prefer: so romantic!) and at the bottom: crazy snow, crazy because of the wind, you never know where the attack come from.
