Tout d'abord, je dois vous avouer que ça n'est pas mon plat préféré, mais j'avoue que j'en mange à l'occasion. L'histoire a commencé avec JKirlin qui disait que le ketchup sur les frites était trop macrobiotique pour les Québécois. Puis, Prairie Girl a fait une étrange association avec le Président de la Russie, Vladimir Poutine(aucun lien de parenté avec ce met) et a proposé un concours d'embellissement(de la poutine, pas de Vladimir). En effet, pas si facile de rendre le côté appétissant de la poutine... Ensuite, sur Web-Pix, Goldo s'est mis à nous bombarder d'images de frites plus succulentes les unes que les autres alors je l'ai menacé avec ma poutine, mais notre belge ami semble avoir un estomac en béton et n'a peur de rien.
Si cette photo vous rebute, sachez tout de même que le goût de ce mélange est très populaire au Québec, même si, à mon avis, ce met est probablement le moins rafiné et surtout le moins traditionnel parmi nos spécialités. Essayez plutôt la délicieuse tourtière ou encore le ragoût de boulettes. Bon Appétit!
First, I have to confess that this is not my favorite dish, though I like to eat one sometimes. This story began with JKirlin who said that ketchup was too macrobiotic for the Quebecois. She's wright, it's not easy to make it looks good. Then again, on Web-Pix, Goldo decided to splash all over with "frites" 's pics, all very delectable. I threaten him to post a pic of "poutine", but our Belge friend seems to have an iron belly and fear no "poutine" at all.
If this pic is digusting you, you may know that this mix is very popular here, though I personnaly find that is the less sophisticated and the less traditionnal of our specialties. You should try our delicious "tourtière" or our fabulous "ragoût de boulettes". Bon Appétit!

Moi aussi je préfère la tourtière et le ragoût de pattes à la poutine. Et parle-moi d'une bonne soupe aux pois ou à la gourgane!

J'avais quasiment honte de mettre une photo de poutine, alors j'en ai profité pour parler un peu de nos vrais mets traditionnels. C'est moins pire comme ça. ;O)

ginnie: It's a little hard for the stomach but not worst that the "choucroute"(sauerkraut). ;)

Jean: Here's the recipe. You put fries, then the cheese and after, it's the sauce(kind of BBQ sauce but not spiced of with sugar).
Now about the cheese: Here, we call that "fromage en grain" and I just learned that it' s a typical cheese in Quebec. Kind of cheddar but not pressed, it is a cheese that have to be fresh of the day, and it's presented as curds(grains). It's a very old kind of cheese and a specialty in many regions in Quebec. Of course, the best one is to be found in the place where I was born, that is the City of Chicoutimi, on the Saguenay River... :O)
But the poutine is not an old recipe. First time I heard of it was around 1975... The fun with it is that the cheese melt and ... ok, I stop. :O)
