OK, I MADE A MISTAKE... I WAS JUST LATE FOR THE CONTEST... BUT I WONDER WHAT KIND OF WIND CHIME THOSE WOULD MAKE... :O)

Ce Salon avait lieu en fin de semaine et, bien sûr, j'y étais. Endroit rêvé pour faire une photo pour ma participation au concours JorjDotOrg Photohunt, dont le thème cette semaine était "something old". Et j'ai finalement opté pour une photo des plus vieux livres de mon propre kiosque. Je peux vous assurer que tous les volumes sur cette photo datent entre 1664 et 1866. La série du haut est de 1810, et les livres du bas sont, de gauche à droite, de 1839, 1767 (2 vol.), 1753, 1740, 1784 (2 vol.), 1664 et 1866. Voilà!

This Book Fair was last week-end and, of course, I was there. The ideal place to make some pic for my participation at the JorjDotOrg Photohunt contest. This week theme was "something old". And I finally decided to take pics of the oldest books of my own bookstand. I can assure you that all the books on that pic are dating between 1664 and 1866. The top collection was published in 1810, and the books at the bottom are, from left to right, from 1839, 1767 (2 vol.), 1753, 1740, 1784 (2 vol.), 1664 and 1866. That's it!

Le fait d'avoir un enfant nous permet de retomber un peu dans le monde de l'enfance, chose que j'aime beaucoup. Au printemps, j'étais avec ma fille à la librairie et celle-ci, sortie jouer dehors, avait laisser trainer le sac de sa poupée. En passant, il faut dire qu'elle n'avait trainé que le sac, car elle ne joue plus vraiment avec ses poupées.

Je me suis demandé ce que pouvait bien contenir ce sac, et cela m'a donné l'idée de faire un envoi sur Blogger. La photographie ci-dessus montre un sac de poupée Bratz. Il est vraiment très petit, il fait 8 cm de long sur 3,5 cm de diamètre. Donc, voici la liste de tous les objets contenus dans ce tout petit sac:

Et la preuve que tout ça entre dans le sac, c'est la photographie ci-dessous, après la traduction anglaise... Ah! Le merveilleux monde de l'enfance! ...surtout des filles...

To have a children is a wonderful way to go back in the children's world, something that I like a lot! This spring, I was with my daughter at my bookshop. She went out to play with her friends and left her doll's bag inside. But for your information, I have to say that she brought just the bag, not the dolls, because she doesn't play with dolls anymore...

I was wondering what could possibly be inside of that bag, and that give me the idea to do a post and I took some pics. On the top picture, you see that the bag is very small, making 3 inches long on just 1 and a half inch of diameter. So, now, this is the list of all the items I had found inside of that tiny bag:

- a pen
- one sugar bowl with his spoon

I took a picture of all those, so you can see by yourself! Ahhhhh, the wonderful world of childhood! ...specially of girls...

BELLA LUNA.

Difficile de photographier la lune avec un simple zoom de 6X... À la dernière pleine lune, j'ai bien essayé, mais les résultats étaient affreux. Et puis, un soir, en revenant de chez ma soeur, il y avait cette lune, lovée au centre de ces magnifiques nuages... un cadeau.

It ain't easy to take pics of the moon with just a 6X zoom... On the last full moon, I tried... but the result were a desaster. And then, one evening, coming back from my sister's place, there was this moon, nested in the middle of those magnificant clouds... a gift.

Moi et les trèfles à quatre feuilles.Me and the four-leaves clovers.

Mon premier souvenir de trèfles à quatre feuilles est lorsque j'avais 13 ou 14 ans. Je me promenais avec ma cousine et celle-ci décida que nous allions chercher des trèfles à quatre feuilles. Je n'étais pas bien enthousiaste, mais ma cousine se pencha, se mit à chercher et dit aussitôt: "J'en ai un!" Je restai incrédule, croyant à une blague, lorsqu'elle dit: "J'en ai un autre!... Oh, un troisième." Je demandai à voir. C'était bien des trèfles à quatre feuilles! Je crois que nous avions trouvé le Jack Pot! Ce jour-là, j'ai ramassé 14 trèfles à quatre feuilles, et ma cousine en a eu 17 ou 18!

My first memory about four-leaves clover is when I was 13 or 14 year's old. I was with my cousin taking a walk when she decided that we were going to look for four-leaves clover. I was not very enthousiast, but my cousin began to look and said: "I got one!" I thought she was doing me a joke, but then she said: "I got another one!... Oh! A third!" I asked to look at them, it was really four-leaves clovers! I think that day we had found the Jack Pot! I went home with 14 four-leaves clover, and my cousin 17 or 18!

Sur la photo ci-dessus, un autre trèfle. Celui-ci fut trouvé dans un livre assez ancien, datant de 1890 si ma mémoire est bonne, et trouvé dans les premières années de l'ouverture de la librairie. Ces objets chanceux se trouvent dans le sous-sol de ma librairie. La petite bottine était dans cette cave lorsque nous avons emménagé, le fer à cheval était dans le fond d'une boîte achetée chez un vieux monsieur... je sais, je suis un tantinet superstitieuse... :O)

On the picture above, another clover leaf. This one was found in an old book, if I remember well the book dated arount 1890, and it was in the first years of the bookshop. Those lucky things are in the basement of my bookshop. The little baby shoe was found there when we moved in, the horseshoe was in the bottom of a box we bought from an old man... I know, I'm a little tiny bit superstitious... :O)

Comme je suis libraire de livres anciens, je trouve des tas de choses dans les livres, dont, bien entendu, des feuilles séchées... Ça n'est pas la première fois que je trouve un trèfle à quatre feuilles, mais je suis toujours contente d'en trouver car cela me rappelle de bons souvenirs. De plus, je m'étais dit que j'allais pouvoir le photographier... Mais quelle ne fut pas ma surprise d'en trouver un deuxième, et de découvrir que celui-ci n'avait pas seulement quatre, mais bien CINQ feuilles!!!!! Ça, j'avoue que c'est bien la première fois que j'en trouve un! Oui, oui, observez-le bien attentivement, le trèfle ci-dessous a bien cinq feuilles. Deux feuilles sont presque totalement superposées, mais j'ai vérifié, il y en a bien deux. Comme elle sont séchées, il serait trop risqué d'essayer de les écarter encore plus.

I am an antiquarian bookdealer so I found many things in old books, and also, of course, leaves... It's not the first time I find a four-leaf clover, but it's always a pleasure because it reminds me of nice memories... And I also said to myself that I was going to take pics of it... But looking again in the book I found another one! And looking at it more carefully, I saw that it was not a four-leaf clover, but a FIVE-LEAF clover!!! This I admit is the first time I ever found one! Look carefully, on the bottom pic, the clover leaf really have five leaves. Two of them are almost completely superposed, but I looked and they are two different leaves. Because the clover leaf is dry, it's too dangerous to try to just separate them a little bit more.

JORJDOTORG PHOTOHUNT: a person.

Cette semaine, pour la chasse photo (photohunt), le sujet est: une personne... et elle doit tenir un légume dans ses mains. Je me suis alors dit que le marché serait l'endroit idéal pour trouver et une personne, et un légume. Cette charmante dame m'ayant offert de m'expliquer les différences et vertus de ses moutardes et choux, je lui ai demandé si elle acceptait de poser pour moi avec un de ses beaux plants de moutarde, ce qu'elle accepta gentiment. Elle se nomme Lucie, et m'expliqua que cela signifiait "lumière". N'est-elle pas effectivement rayonnante de lumière? ...et ses moutardes sont vraiment délicieuses...

This week, for the photohunt, the subject is: a person... and if possible holding a vegetable. So I said to myself that the market should be the ideal place to find and a person, and a vegetable. This charming lady nicely offer me to explain the differences and the virtues of her mustards and cabbages. Then, I asked her if she would accept to pose for me with one of her great mustard plant, and she gently agreed. Her name is Lucie and she explain to me that meant "light". Isn't she effectively radiant of light? ...and her mustards were really delicious...

Ma fille et moi n'avons pas vraiment pris de vacances cet été, mais nous avons souvent eu l'occasion d'aller sur la plage, à divers endroits. Ce fut des moments magnifiques où nous nous sommes amusé beaucoup, comme vous pouvez le voir sur cette photo.

C'est aussi mon entrée pour le nouveau concours JorjDotOrg PhotoHunt, qui remplace l'ancien Brookston Scavenger Hunt. Le thème: un animal sur un minéral... :O)

My daughter and myself didn't really took vacancy this summer, but we often had chance to go on the beach, at different places. It was always wonderful moments where we had much fun, as you can see it on this pic.

This is also my entry for the new contest JorjDotOrg PhotoHunt, taking the place of the old Brookston Scavenger Hunt. The theme this week: an animal on a mineral... :O)

J'y suis allée surtout pour ma fille et j'y ai aussi amené ma nièce. Évidemment, celles-ci adorent les manèges!
I went there mostly for my daughter and I also bring my niece. Of course, they just adore the amusements!

Alors pendant que ces demoiselles s'amusaient, j'en ai profité pour aller me promener un peu. J'ai ainsi pu voir un très bon petit spectacle d'acrobates!
So while these young ladies were having fun, I took some times to go see around a little. I saw a very nice show of acrobats!

Ainsi que l'Internationale de sculpture sur sable, tout simplement magnifique!
And the International sand sculptures, just extraordinary!


Le pays invité, cette année, était le Japon. Admirez-moi cette "petite" imprimante Canon!

Puis, de retour à l'extérieur, faire des photos... jolis chapeaux, n'est-ce pas?

Oh! Et aussi cette année, une nouvelle attraction: le siège éjectable! ...non, je ne l'ai pas essayé!

Chaque année amène son lot de peluches plus populaire que les autres. Cette année, en plus des "merveilleux" chapeaux très colorés...

Les filles embarquent dans plusieurs jeux, et moi je fais de la photo. La lumière couchante du soleil donne un bleu magnifique au ciel!

J'ai fait ces photos du chat de ma soeur, Merlin, il y a plusieurs mois, et je voulais faire ce montage à la Andy Warhol, mais je ne savais pas comment faire, puisque je n'ai pas Photoshop. Or, voilà qu'il y a quelques temps, je regardais ma fille jouer avec l'ordi et faire des tas de montages amusant en utilisant... le simple programme Paint! Hmmm... comme vous le voyez, je ne suis pas très techno. Mais j'ai réussi et c'est l'essentiel. J'avoue qu'avoir un jeune à la maison, c'est bien pratique pour la technique... Merci Gene!

I did those pictures of the cat of my sister, Merlin, some month ago, and I wanted to do that photomontage in Andy Warhol's style, but I wasn't able to do it, and as I don't have Photoshop... But then, recently, I was looking to my daughter playing on my computer and doing all those funny "collage" using... the simple Paint program! Hmmm... as you can see, I'm not very good with technologies. But I did it and that's the most important. I have a confession to make: having a youngster in the house is very helpful sometimes... Thanks Gene!

Lorsque je me promène sur la plage, j'adore regarder les roches.

Et souvent, j'y vois un visage. Comme j'aime trouver une petite figure sur un caillou.

Comme vous le savez, je garde présentement les deux mignons minets de ma soeur Merlinprincesse. Mais parfois, les deux charmantes bêtes s'amusent à aller dormir dans de bizarres d'endroits et il faut partir à leur recherche. J'ai donc eu envie de vous montrer quelques uns de ces endroits. Mais, où est donc passé Princesse?

As you already know, I'm taking care of the two cuty cats of my daughter
Merlinprincesses. But sometimes, those two charming feline decide to go sleep in some bizarre places and we have to go search for them. So I decided to show you some of those places. But, where is our little Princesse?

Allée avec Gene sur la plage à l'Ile d'Orléans, près de Québec. Joué dans la bouette.
Went with Gene on the beach at Orleans Island, near Québec. Played with mud.

Avons vu un magnifique feu d'artifice près des Chutes Montmorency.
Have seen a wonderful fireworks near Montmorency Falls.

Et aujourd'hui, une parade, commencée sous la pluie...
And today, a parade, that began in the rain...
... mais s'est très bien déroulé tout de même: la parade des Géants!
... but was very well done finally: the Giants Parade!
